Bodegus Bay Vacay
The Navigator and I spent a few days at Bodega Bay Rv park. Although we dutifully stocked up on food on the way up we copped out and had lunch at the Tides, Friday night dinner at Terrapin Creek and Saturday night dinner at Rocker Oysterfellers in Valley Ford. We lazed around the Sonoma Coast perched on the cliffs with binoculars and beers trying to spot Japanese subs patrolling the coast. No go on the subs. Nice Saturday afternoon at Dillon beach. I could live there.
Oroville Annual Checkup
3 guys , 3 days, 2 boats and hundreds of spotted bass. 167 miles of shoreline to explore. We fished all 3 forks of the lake but North was best if you could hack working windy walls. My first time all the way up the North Fork. Spectacular, makes you wish what it was like before the Dam.

Pyramid Water Babies
My navigator and I rolled over Donner Pass Friday afternoon to clear conditions. Reno bound. It was awesome to see 10 ft snowdrifts. We messed around a bit in the casinos Friday night to no avail. Saturday morning we drove the 45 minutes to Pyramid.
I hoped I might fish but wind was fresh and fierce.
We continued north but the road was closed at Warrior Pt.
The Water Babies were howling and trying to escape their watery confines.
Warrior is where the winds from the south 15 mile fetch meets the north 15 mile fetch and all hell breaks loose. I sat there for an hour watching the currents and clouds collide.
Debra had never seen the east side so we rounded down to Nixon NV. The Truckee river dumps in there and it is the gateway to Gerlach.
Faster Farms time machine
We drove another 10 miles north towards Black Rock.

On the way back we took the SE route to Fernley to scope the river. I am so used to the Truckee near Tahoe all pine trees and green. The desert course is very stark.
Sunday morning we sat in Verdi Nv waiting for Donner Pass to open.
We sat there for 3 hrs and decided to check back into a hotel. We watched the Warrior game in the casino and enjoyed the pained look on Spikes face as the Knicks went down. Back in the room around 3:30 PM and I check and see if the pass is still closed. OPEN! I kissed off the hotel room and we beat it over the mountain in whiteout conditions. Only took 7 hrs to get home.
Dirty Melones
Solo run Saturday back to New Melones.
It was very cool to see the cove at Angels filling up.
I tried hitching a ride to the parking lot with the local Lyft operator…
Water stained from one end of the lake to the other and as a consequence catching was limited. Scenery was as usual top notch. I made it way up river to the Stanislaus fork running and gunning waterfalls and bridges.
Hope they let her fill!
Bath Design
We recently finished a design project. Very happy with the end results.
The general contractor was top notch and so were their subs.

Rainy Day Laser Lobster
I have no clue what to do with myself being home on a weekend. Time to make. I Googled up a pic of a spiny lobster.

Once imported into Corel Draw I spent 2 hours tracing the pic with vector lines while watching the Raiders go down in flames.
I enjoy the graphics portion of a project like this. Very meditative.
I did not sleep well Saturday night, laying in bed planning how to layout this piece. So Sunday I was up and off to work early to fire up the laser cutter. I started with the top piece in 3 MM blonde Bamboo Ply.
Frame is ready!
I then cut the inlays and backing plate from Carmelized Bamboo in 3 MM. Time for fitup.
Wood glue applied.
A few hours later the glue was dry. I used two grits of sandpaper to level everything out and remove the glue residue. Time for Varathane!
When it is dry it will be mounted between the medicine cabinets.
I am very pleased with the finished product.Fun way to spend the day.
Journey to Portlandia
North we went aimed directly for Paradise.
Spent a day and a half with our little girl and her mountain family.
Got the grand tour of Aubrey’s new place of employ in Chico, The Plant Barn
We then motored out to the Norcal Coast headed towards Oregon with many stops along the way for exploring. The stretch of coast from Eureka north is incredible. Parks, beaches and rivers seemingly every mile.
We spent a night in Gold Beach Oregon
Carson Pass Altitude Adjustment
Co-Pilot and I loaded up Bouncing Betty and headed up the Hwy 88 corridor. I had booked last minute 4th of July reservations at Plasses Resort on the shores of Silver Lake at 8000 feet.
Nice old school resort if a bit busy with ATV’s.
After checking in we poked around on 88
over the pass and down into Tahoe. Co-pilot got her gambling bug addressed and I in fact continue to pile up the brownie points. Saturday AM we headed back up to the pass for a day hike on the Pacific Crest Trail.
We headed south towards Winnemucca lake but stopped somewhat short (of breath). Wildflowers were abundant and there was still snow on the cornices.
Did a little fishing at Caples but just for show.
Lovely dinner by campfire Saturday night.
Fun trip, been camping now 4 times this summer.
