If this is Global warming then I can get used to it. Spent the day in Santa Cruz with my honey. We parked on the wharf and ate at Firefish (meh).

You could see the lane starting to go off (day after Mavericks) so we rode our bikes over to the point.

I noticed Debra was biking erratically so we beat a hasty retreat to the Crows Nest for the proverbial safety meeting

Back to McClure with my son and Mike G. 9 AM launch weather springlike. Headed for the dam which was leaking

There were fish on top  by the houseboats Goats were back?What worked:

Firetiger Rapala, Seps dodger/excel spoon in white, UV slingblade with watermelon needlefish. Took 3 home for the smoker, lost a bunch with multi drive bys. Meanwhile back at the ramp two boats had 10 trout each so they are still there. Damn full moon!

Was good to fish with my boy!

Left the house at 5 for a solo Melo run.

Pledged my $10  tithe to the iron man at dawn

Very busy at the ramp. Heavy overcast no wind and not too cold. I decided to head all the way up the river arm.

Witnessed an aerial show with 5 baldys at play. Frustrated I can’t shoot these birds in focus!

The canyon was spectacular in the grey light.

After beating up on the little guys at McClure for two weeks in a row I was looking for size instead of numbers. It was not to be. Fishing was slow but I put a few on the boat like this. Firetiger Rapala and Seps dodger with white excel spoon was what they wanted.

Worked back  to Mormon and the dam area. Lots of risers but stayed quiet.

Dangerous Trebles and Dr. Mel Gallaty shared the tin with me today. We splashed her at Barrett Cove at 9 and headed north. Rainbows were on the chew up top.

Weather, grub (Cuban Sandwiches) and scenery were grand

J7 and JR7 rapalas, excel spoons, wiggle hoochies, seps flashers Uv slingblades everything worked. 20 plus fish to the boat, many lost and missed bites and a dozen came home for dinner. Ultralight gear fun.

Been a long time since I fished McClure.

Launched from Barrett Cove at 7:30 and headed for the dam.

Fishing was easy on top. Rapalas, Kastmasters, UV slingblade trolling sinker and excel spoon killed.

Cruise and Brews the theme of the day

Spent the afternoon in the Merced arm for steady action

At least 20 to the net and a ton of missed bites and lost fish. En fuego.

Left Ptown at 5 to clear conditions

Launched from T Town at 7:30. The meat brigade was out in force. If you want to take a kid fishing and be sure to catch trout go off the bank here now.

Scenery was off the charts, my neck is sore

Count was 6 for the day, no piggies. Nice drive home

On the road at 5:30.

Put in at G hole 35 degrees and no wind

Dropped in right away and trolled towards Angels.

Saw risers where the creek comes in and picked up two casting a Krocodile in blue/silver

Took a walk upstream but no spawners

Moved out a bit and picked up another on an excel spoon in firetiger behind a Slingblade

Celebrated with a lil sumpin

Picked up and made the long run to Coyote Creek. Got one on the firetiger needlefish

If you drive all the way to the Southeast corner of the abandoned naval base there are some hiking trails maintained by a bunch of interesting folk sort of squatting out there as docents. Bizarre interpetive center out of a Peewee Herman movie. Killer views of the Al Zampa Memorial Bridge across the Carquinez Straits. Overgrown trails lit at night with weird strands of christmas lights and Solar powered landscape lamps. Some history as well! Two thumbs up.

27 degrees on the way up with snow down to Copperopolis

Launched from Tuttletown at 9 am only to find fish busting all over the ramp cove.

Had a couple of ball diggle flybys

100’s of fish cruising the shallows willing to go on almost anything. I could not stand it so headed up Mormon creek.

Weather brisk but calm

Got one fish back there and one at the dam. Headed back to the ramp and it was still full of cruisers. There was some big fish mixed in but I only hooked little guys

Everything up top today. Firetiger rapala worked. Hammered blue/silver Crocodile worked. The power bait guys were killing them from shore. The lake has turned, let the games begin.
