Delta 10-24-20

Mark and I launched from Big Break Saturday and headed west. We covered mostly Sherman, Broad Slough and Collinsville areas. 20+ fish to hand today, no piggies. Pearl swimbait continues to work. Got beat up a bit in the wind which was definitely blowing better than the 5 MPH predicted on Windfinder. Hope to see the bite pick up with the cooling weather.

Quincy Life Matters

We got up to see Aubrey after 3 months of Shelter In Place. The kids bombed Mt Hough a couple of times. We hit Gold Lakes Basin and Davis lake over a couple day stay. Nice stop to view Frazier Falls as well. I could retire there.

Angels Camp RV opened back up so I booked for Saturday night. We launched the tin can at 9 AM to overcast skies. Lake lice not out yet. Parking lot crowded. I ran most of the way up the canyon to spliff cliffs. First cast with the bobber and Spro Phat Fly fish on! Fishing was very good even when the sun came out. Boated approx 30 spots some were nice size. I run the fly 6-8 ft below a foam bobber and work right up against the rocks drifting with the wind.
KIcking back now at the RV place with a drink and takeout Mikes Pizza from Angles Camp. Was great to get my mind off of stuff.

Death Valley Cloud Show

It seemed like a nice weekend to get out of town so we loaded up the  truck and moved to Mohave. Friday was a bit of a grind south to Bakersfield, around the horn and up to Lone Pine which was to be home base for a bit of exploring. Lots of rusty stuff to do in that area.

Gold Country Bombing Run

We ventured to Angels Camp for President Trump Weekend. Highlights included Murphys wine tasting, Jackson Rancheria (Debra wins again), and a run down 49 to Mariposa in the rocket.  I surveyed New Melones, Don Pedro and McClure and found all three lakes reasonably full despite a dry 2020 to date.

Norcal Rocks

We had a special delivery to make in NE California this weekend. While there we had a chance to explore a bit. We did some 4-wheeling on the Cali-Nevada border to H********** Mountain which is famous for Smoky Quartz scepters and Citrine. Collecting was only so so but the family time was very special to me.
