Epic Drive #1 in Blitzr-Carmel to Soledad

The news said MONSTER WAVES-STAY AWAY FROM THE BEACH! So of course we went to the beach. We left Pleasanton on Sunday to threatening skies and traveled south Hwy 101 to Tenant Road in Morgan Hill. Out through the winery trail to Hecker Pass and over to Watsonville. We picked up Hwy 1 and stopped in Moss Landing.

We skipped the normal stop at Phils Fishery in ML and continued south to Monterey. Had to get some shots of Blitzr.

We ate lunch at Osteria La Mare near the Coast Guard Pier in Monterey. TOP notch food and killer setting overlooking the harbor.

We continued out the Monterey Peninsula looking for the Big Waves…

The afternoon run was out Carmel Valley Road all the way to Soledad. Writeup here:

You can extend your visit by heading east on Carmel Valley Road where the road changes dramatically as you enter Klondike Canyon. The road narrows, shaded by overhanging oaks. (It also changes names several times; make sure to stay on County Road G16.) Soon, you’ll begin climbing into the foothills of the Santa Lucia Mountains; you’ll see cattle grazing on rolling hills as you ascend to 2000 feet. Come over the top, and you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views of the Salinas Valley. County Road G16 will lead you to Highway 101, from which you can return to where you began.

NO one on this road for an hour and a half. I got to wring the new ride out HARD. Big fun.
